It is an era of MOOC. The commonality of Blended, Flipped, and MOOC is use of intensified learning activities. Don’t we need contents anymore? Video is the major contents in this new era. But this video is totally different with the old fashioned video we used to watch. The new features are as follows.
- Modularization: Udacity produce video contents, which is segmented as one or two minutes.
- Integration of various learning activities: Video includes the learning activities or integrated with LMS activity functions.
- Intensively instructional designed: Each video module is short and impactive for the learning objective and class subject. Just like the difference between novel and poet, MOOC’s video is different with old fashioned videos.
Most of the MOOC video is open and available free. You can use the video for your own class. But there won’t be perfect fit for your class all the time. So, you need to make your own video or curate many different videos.
Curation will be very important factors in eLearning quality. It will be more and more important in the future. Even you can make your quality video quick and cheap. With less than 150 $ of software price, you can make a video like below. Amazing world! Sorry, the voice is Korean, but I put English subtitle, so you enable the caption when you watch the video.
Explain everything is a iPad app, which you can buy 3 $. You can make video fully with it and upload the video on Youtube directly. I purchased X-mirage to mirror iPad to my Mac, and recored the screen with Screenflow. X-mirage is 16$ and Screenflow is around 100$. All amounts to 120$.
